Student Research Opportunities

To explore the current research opportunities for students at Illinois Tech or for assistance with a project proposal, contact your college or school, your faculty advisor, or a faculty member whose works interests you. Elevate, a campuswide initiative, connects students with research projects on and off campus, as well as with internships and study-abroad opportunities. Ongoing research-focused initiatives through the colleges and schools are listed below.

Armour College Summer Engineering Research Immersion Program

Both current Illinois Tech students and university-level students from throughout the world are eligible to participate in the college’s summer research program, which includes a symposium of student work.

College of Science Undergraduate Research Stipends

This initiative provides funding for select undergraduate students enrolled in the college to conduct research alongside an Illinois Tech faculty mentor during a 10-week summer session.

Lewis College of Human Sciences Undergraduate Research

Lewis College offers undergraduates a variety of research outlets and hosts an annual research symposium where students showcase their work. School of Applied Technology Student Projects (ITM)

Student projects are a core component of the School of Applied Technology’s undergraduate curriculum. Much like formal research projects, these team-based projects allow students to study and develop a viable solution to a technology problem, gaining hands-on experience and work examples for their portfolios.

Though extracurricular endeavors within the College of Architecture typically may be associated with architecture practice more than formal research, the college offers an extensive study-abroad program that includes site research and other similar immersive opportunities.
